Nostalgic Sweet Love

I am partial to a cola cube too but my favourite retro sweet shop sweetie (even though I know it is not boiled) is a flying saucer. I love the sherbet and rice paper combo of pretty pastel colours discs!

I wish you could still get a 10p pick n mix bag too.

Mr Simms

Lichfield's 'Purveyor of Finest Confectionery'.

I love this shop, it's like something time forgot with towering shelf's filled with large jars of multicoloured boiled sweets. The dark wood interior low lighting makes it feel more authentic and although it's tiny inside every available surface has some kind of sweet delight placed on it. Both children and adults alike can't wait to squeeze in and have there own Willy Wonka moment.

My personal favourite is the cola cube, king of the boiled sweets in my opinion

The only downside is that Mr Simms wouldn't be found inside weighing out the sweets, unfortunately Mr Simms is a chain with shops throughout the UK (and a slightly unattractive and uninspiring website), but hey least it means you're never too far away from sugary bliss.

Cookie Boy

Just came across Cookie Boy (via coolhunter). It seems he can make a cookie into almost anything, these are just a selection of my favourite designs...

Only problem I have with it is that he lives and works in Japan. Maybe he could make a cookie envelop and send it me.

Covent Garden Soup

For lunch today I had a very yummy soup of the month by New Covent Garden Food Co - Jamaican Jerk Sweet Potato. It felt very wintery but the spices really perked it up, it reminded me of my homemade spicy sweet potato soup I have done in the past and I think it might be time to do that again...

Emily's Belated Birthday Weekend

Being super organised I have a food filled weekend planned to celebrate Emily's birthday.

A month of firsts!

This month my very proud boyfriend Mat cooked his first sunday roast without any help from me, he even made the yorkshires from scratch! They looked like little round cakes as they were missing the dip in the middle but they taste good.

The following week he went on to cook his first ever shepherds pie and the following day I did my first toad in the hole - I really love classic British dishes especially now the weather is getting colder, brrrrr.
