Say 'hello' to our first guest blogger

When me and Jade first conceived our blog nine months ago we always had hopes that beyond our enjoyment others would like reading our blog and guest bloggers would be bought on board. Well, since that conversation over a bottle of Chenin Blanc we've had visitors from the US, Singapore, Russia and Australia to name a few and seen readership slowly rise month on month with April seeing the biggest ever audiences to date. So it's fitting that in a month of success for our blog that our first ever request to be a guest blogger came in.

Me and Kerry, Year 6.
Back in the day when Polo's were 10p a pack, Safeway's stocked Pop-tarts, Finders Crispy Pancakes and Angel Delight and the microwave was king, two girls spent most of there time negotiating the hills of Brereton in roller boots to reach to ultimate prize – the 10p mix.

A lot has changed since then (not just the price of Polo's and the demise of Safeway's in the UK) but I'm chuffed to announce that years after putting the grazed knees and psychedelic cycling shorts behind her Kerry and myself have joined forces once again as she becomes Foody Faces' first guest blogger.

When I think of Kerry and food one of the things that comes to mind is the first time we ever met at Primary School, I can vividly remember her strawberry shaped hair clips in day one of infants class. I also remember easily matching her to the correct baby photo in a competition at Brownie's, she was the baby holding a Jaffa Orange larger than her head – something of a food obsession for our little Kes (fresh oranges not foods larger than her head!) and then there was her Mum's Spag Bol, it always felt rather exotic to eat whole-wheat pasta as I never ate it anywhere else. And then last but not least there was the early experimentation with food, ok well its not exactly Heston Blumenthal standard, but we used to put our jumbo sized Fruit Salad sweets on the radiator on sleepovers to ensure they were chewy from the word go.

Kerry
Now a successful journalist based in London she currently works for the Guardian and has had works published in NME and now (and I'm sure she will agree) the highlight of her career is about to occur – her first ever blog post for Foody Faces will go live on Tuesday. Sorry Kes but it's downhill from Tuesday! Click here to read Kerry's post.

If you have a story about food and friends and would like to become a guest blogger on Foody Faces then get in touch :-)
